Accoustic wave technology was first used over 30 years ago to treat kidney stones (lithotripsy). Sound waves are throughly research technology and are currently the standard of care for stones, pain pathologies and bone healing. TRT's patented, unfocused acoustic waves, known as SoftWaves, produce both positive and negative (Tensile) forces on cells. The probe generates waves that affects cells within a two-inch diameter, but only the injured/diseased (pathologic) tissue reacts, triggering an immune response. This increases the blood flow to the pathologic tissue and migrates stem cells to it, which accelerates healing and helps to quickly restore function.

Class IV K-Laser Therapy

LASER Therapy is also known as photobiomodulation. It entails the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to generate a photochemical response in damaged or dysfunctional tissue. LASER works by creating an increase of vasodilatation (blood supply), bringing in oxygen to the cells. It stimulates the lymphatic system, pulling edema (swelling) and inflammation from the area. Radial Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) involves introducing high-energy sound wave into particular areas of the body to systematically eliminate pathological alterations of tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles and bones. Acoustic Wave Therapy was developed from lithotripsy for fragmentation of kidney calculi and radial shock wave therapy for muscle treatment, generates high-amplitude acoustic pulses of short duration. Radial acoustic waves are used to accelerate the healing process, stimulate metabolism and improve blood circulation to help damaged tissue in many areas of the body. The beneficial effects of AWT are often experienced after only 1 or 2 sessions. This therapy eliminates pain and restores full mobility, which improves your quality of life.

How are treatments performed?
First, our therapist will find where you are having the pain by palpation and discuss his or her findings with you. Then, our therapist will apply a skin gel to the treatment area, which will allow the shock waves to be introduced into your body without any loss of energy. The shock waves are then applied as the therapy head is moved over the pain region in a circular motion.

How many treatments are needed?
In general, an average of 5 to 10 treatments are necessary at 1-2 treatments per week.

Is it normal to experience pain during treatment?
ESWT creates a mechanical stress that may cause mild discomfort during treatment. Depending on the desired depth of penetration, varying amounts of energy may be utilized to create the desired effect and some soreness may be experienced post-treatment.

How long does each treatment take?
Each therapy session takes between 8 and 23 minutes, depending on the disorder being treated.
